REMOTE MANUAL + 2 year update

I figured it out. It seems that CH1-CH3 do nothing; a common complaint I've read in reviews. For example, I expected that pressing CH3 would change the color to the preset program. nope It selects colored diodes. I use a marine model. White, blue, red and green colors are on separate channels. Here's an easy way to set your preferred hue: This requires you to look at the LEDs, so wear dark polarized sunglasses and shine the light directly at your face or a non-reflective mirror. Surface or use your phone's camera if your eyes are sensitive. Start by pressing CH1 (make sure you're within a few feet and point it at the power supply and not the light!) Use the + and - buttons to adjust the blue . Press CH2 then + and - for White CH3 for 2nd set Blue CH4 for Green and Red Hope this helps! While I'm testing it on a mixed 8 gallon riff using a Kessil A80 which appears to be a fake and it's nowhere near it in terms of brightness and spectrum. With the power button at full (all channels 100%) this will be a good light for soft lighting in low light, but too reddish for my liking. I like more blue to make the coral pop, but it would be nice on a tank with lots of pink skin. I might use it to install 3 gallon polyps in the future but for the moment I actually bought it for an aquaclear hob converted into an algae scrubber that heats the whites anyway and a red diode gets the algae help with growth. I didn't want a freshwater version. This is soft light. I wish the Kessil a80 looked this sharp. UPDATE: This lantern eventually collapsed in an explosion of sparks, smoke, and fire. It looks like the wiring came out and two copper wires met each other. It detonated with a massive explosion, scattering fragments of copper wire throughout the room, filling the house with acrid smoke and blowing a fuse in the room. Luckily I was in the room and saw it in case a big fire should break out. I also have a freshwater and pixie 80 version, I think I'll replace them now.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not the best
