G4 bulb is not standard. They are available in 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" sizes. Both sizes are available in different capacities. It is short and suitable for all uses. If you want a short one and buy a long one, it won't fit. These lamps work well and I recommend that you buy them so as not to risk being left with a long lamp. Focus on getting performance that matches the rest of your array or your application needs and you will be completely satisfied.
