Review on Monoprice Zero G Curved Gaming Monitor 35" - Immersive Ultrawide Display for Unmatched Gaming Experience by Chris Yarborough

Revainrating 5 out of 5

That is amazing! Do. Your. Research.

First, let me say that when you're looking at a $300+ monitor, you obviously want your money's worth. That being said, I was considering buying Samsung or LG as they are known for their excellent panel tech. When I did a little research on the panel specs, I found that this guy's specs matched or exceeded the panel specs of some of the more expensive Samsung or LG monitors. I see a lot of people saying they wish it was IPS. IPS panels are also known for their relatively good black reproduction, which helps eliminate the "washed out" look you get with TN panels. However, IPS panels don't have the excellent contrast ratios that you'll find in VAs. (This is from how-to geek) What you need to look out for when buying a monitor (for performance reasons - I can't comment on games) so you don't see pixelation in text or images is PPI - this monitor is 106PPI. This is on par with more expensive UWQHD monitors, sometimes even higher; albeit a PPI or two. If you need more information about panel technology and features, go to panelbook.com and search for the monitor you are considering buying so you can compare and contrast what you are actually buying. Don't be fooled by pretty stands, RGB lighting (stupid on a monitor) and other dodgy marketing terms. Overall, this is a good monitor for the price and you'll have a hard time finding these specs. in this price range.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Limited contrast setting
