After many years of thinking, I bought a Sega Compact a Disk (Model 2) from ebay was listed relatively cheap because of a "No Disk" error. After opening it up and doing some research, it turned out that the laser was the most likely culprit, and it turned out that the KSS-210A was the right one for the particular version of Sega CD 2 I had since it is almost completely identical. visually (I believe there are two or three different versions, one or more of which have a different optical laser configuration, so make sure you know which one you have!) True, this was only the second time that I've built the optical laser into the unit and this is the first time I've done this with a Sega CD and a laser that I haven't saved from another unit. The laser didn't work at first, but then I realized it had anti-static solder on it that had to be removed with a soldering iron. After I fixed this little oversight, the laser lit up and my Sega CD started playing games and albums again! I believe it works great on other non-gaming devices it is compatible with.
