1 year update to below: I finally machine washed it on sanitary mode in a high end machine and, to my happy surprise, it came out clean and intact -nothing fell apart. It has held up very well to daily use. So, I am changing from 4 to 5 stars.I love this but know that it will likely fall apart if machine washed in my apartment building commercial machine. So, I will have to wash by hand. If you have your own washer and there is a very gentle cycle, it might be fine. It is very thin, light weight, surprisingly warm (I think because it helps retains your body heat), super soft, and so cuddly / cozy. It is perfect for one and OK for two sitting on the couch (but won't completely cover us both from head to toe unless we sit close together). As I think this will be prone to shredding when washed, I'd recommend it more as a throw and couch snuggler than a bed blanket you sleep with daily (unless you are using on top of sheets or other blankets and it stays clean).
