I ride my bike about 5-6 miles almost every day. Last year I had three or four flat tires in just a few days because my bike's rear tire was worn out. After changing tires, I added slime to both cameras. And then I drove for eight months without a flat tire or even a leak. But my front tyre, the cheap original tire fitted at the factory, is worn out. Today as I was driving I suddenly heard: "POP! and then silence. The front wheel was flat. But actually, Slime patched the hole so quickly the tire pressure dropped just a few pounds. I drove the rest of the way home, about a mile, with no problems. I decided to find a hole and patch it up just in case. (It was pretty easy to find since it had a tiny green bead of slime on it.) However, I quickly discovered the downsides of using slime. I couldn't fully deflate the hose. No air escapes through the already plugged leak, and holding the valve open only deflates the tire halfway. I tried removing the valve core to let out the remaining air, but I twisted and twisted and twisted it to no avail. Apparently the mucus had blocked the valve so the core couldn't come out and neither could the rest of the air. In other words, the slime did exactly what it was supposed to do - it flowed to where the air was escaping, in this case the open valve, and sealed it. Unfortunately, this high-performance slime made it difficult for me to get the tire off the wheel, and when it finally came off I couldn't put it back on. Eventually I gave in and replaced the hose, even though the old one only had a tiny hole. (Yes, I probably should have left things alone and never tried to fix them.) So it's a compromise. My front tube lasted eight months with the Slime, although the tire itself has worn out and the rear tube still works with the newer tire. But once I removed the Slimed hose, I couldn't reuse it. But I do not care. Months without a home is worth replacing a six-dollar camera. I went back to Revain to get a new front tire and another bottle of Slime. It works out! UPDATE March 30, 2014: After a bit of research and experimentation, I found that you can remove the valve core and completely deflate the slime tire if you use a REAL valve core removal tool and not the cheap flimsy plastic thing in the Slime Bottle Lid. They work about 200% better than a slime bottle cap, and the smaller one takes up negligible space in your bike toolbox: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQHABMS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=one .
