I've been looking for the Nikon 70-300mm VR Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor lens for Nikon DSLRs for a long time, but I'm glad Revain recently introduced a had problem and he stopped selling it direct (don't know why). I noticed that this Tamron lens runs at f4 instead of f4.5 and has an ultrasonic autofocus (AF) motor (USD) that is comparable to Nikon's. and Canon technology. I also scoured eBay to see what price I could buy a used or refurbished Nikon at and found that I could buy a new Tamron for around the same price (after a $50 discount) with a 6 year warranty could buy. I don't know why but tons of Nikon lenses are sold refurbished and only have a one year warranty. There are several comments here on Revain about the reviewers getting a bad copy of the lens. So I decided to take the risk and buy a Tamron lens and I'm glad I did! I started filming sports at my son's soccer games and was amazed at the speed of the US dollar. My camera is a Nikon D90 and taking photos at 4.5fps was easy with the continuous autofocus. I've taken several shots up to 300mm and this lens has produced very sharp results with great depth of field and bokeh. This lens works on full frame FX cameras and cropped DX cameras, so the zoom on my D90 is fantastic. Rarely have I had results that weren't great. The Tamron lens also has its XLD (Extra-Low Dispersion Glass) which seems pretty obvious in sharpness and lack of chromatic aberration. This is the first Tamron lens to incorporate all of this advanced technology and I think they got it right. In some of the shots I took, children were running at high speed and I intentionally slowed down the shutter speed to capture movement in the images. . Tamron's VC (Vibration Correction) system worked great with my shaky pans and hand position. I did a test without it and the difference is striking. My other VR capable Nikon lenses work well, but the Tamron VC definitely outperforms them. I love competition because it makes everyone better. In that case, I would say that Tamron has finally released a product that surpasses Nikon.
