This converter is great for connecting old VCRs and games consoles to modern HDMI TVs. I tested it with a VCR and Xbox and it worked great on both. My TV has an aspect ratio setting for the HDMI input, so I set the aspect ratio to 4:3 so the picture doesn't get stretched to the full 16:9 widescreen. I need black bars on the sides so I can see the image as it should be. Keep in mind that the picture quality of an old interlaced standard definition signal doesn't look very good on a 4K TV. This is not the converter's fault, it simply displays an interlaced 720 x 480 pixel image on a 3840 x 2160 progressive scan TV. VCRs and consoles look best on CRT TVs because these TVs handle interlacing much better than LCD TVs. Since almost nobody has tube TVs anymore, you can use your old devices with this converter. The picture is as good as it gets under the circumstances. The converter has a switch that lets you choose between 720p or 1080p output. You can switch back and forth to see what looks best on your TV. 1080p will probably look best on 1080p or 4K TVs, which are found on almost every TV these days. If you have an old 720p TV, the 720p setting will help you. You can select RCA (yellow connector) or S-Video (black connector) as the video input. This is great if your device has an S-Video output, as S-Video gives you a slightly clearer video signal. An HDMI cable is included, so the price is very reasonable. This is a great converter, so I definitely recommend it!
