Where we live we use tap water, not city/county water. We pre-filter our water going into this reverse osmosis system with a whole house water filter… a simple filter from Home Depot that uses a paper filter (looks like a ground pool filter to me). Before we added this pre-filter, the first filter in the line of this reverse osmosis system became dirty very quickly and we had to replace it after a few months. Now the filters last a whole year. Because we use water from the watershed, filtration is necessary to ensure drinking water safety. Love love love that this system contains ultraviolet light to kill anything that causes it to pass through any filters.
