I inherited an old craftsman router (315.17480) and wanted to replace my old car lamp with a brighter one. A #1004 automotive bulb was required and I wasn't sure if this product would work. First, trying to grab this bulb for installation is very difficult when you have to use force to insert it into the slots. As this is an older tool the slots to install the bulb are very narrow and the regular bulb will hold but these silicone bulbs will not. I was trying to install one carefully and accidentally crushed one of the components in one of the lamps. After some fiddling I finally got a second one and it works fantastic. I will also note that the two bulbs were completely different lengths, one about 1/4 inch longer than the other. Luckily I had clearance to install a larger lightbulb. If you don't need a lot of effort to install this lamp, it works great. Otherwise it can be difficult. The brightness is great and if I had another application for this type of lamp that was easier to install I would buy it again.
