Review on Enhanced Wireless Adapter for Source Audio SA115 Hot Hand 3 by Erica Moore

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The thing is great, but there are also disadvantages.

It's hard not to have mixed feelings about this item. If you don't know what it is, you should probably watch some videos about it even if you're not interested. It's a pretty neat little device. This allows a guitarist, bass or synth player, DJ, etc. to control the expression signal for the pedal with a ring instead of an expression footswitch. That's where my mixed feelings come up: On the one hand, I like the functionality of this device. It's a bit niche, but that's the kind of stuff I like. I'm a bass player and I love effects. I use this thing to manipulate the expression on a pitch shift pedal (Boss PS-5) and it ends up working like a digital beatstrip. And the visual aspect of a musician waving their hand to manipulate their sound is stunning to non-musicians who have no idea such things even exist. I have two other Source Audio products and they are a really great company with very good effects. On the other hand, I had some minor issues with this device. At one point I felt like it was broken so I sent it back to the company under warranty. (Quick note: the folks at Source Audio are truly exceptional. If you buy this thing and end up having problems with it like I did, then you won't have a hard time dealing with these folks.) Turns out, that my hot hand wasn't. not broken, but that I just didn't set it up properly. Obviously this is some sort of stupidity of my own and may not necessarily be an issue for anyone else purchasing this. It's just important to note that there's a pretty serious learning curve to setting this thing up to suit your needs. I would recommend maybe contacting the company for advice on the correct ring size. One more thing to mention, a few weeks after returning the unit from Source Audio I managed to break the power connector with very little effort so for now I'll have to send it back in for repairs. Since I loved the thing so much that it became a permanent part of my playing style, I immediately bought a backup so that I would never have to be without the device if I had further problems. you're interested in this thing and you're willing to spend money on it, i would definitely recommend it. Note, however, that technical difficulties may arise.
