Chemical fly repellents gave my horse chemical burns that looked like ripples on the skin. When used in combination with 2 tablespoons of powdered garlic added to the diet daily, this product has worked well as a fly prevention tactic. I noticed a definite improvement with fewer landings and fly stings. While not as toxic as other products, be aware that this product is strong and use gloves to protect your skin when applying (there are plenty of warnings on the packaging). The product has a strong odor, similar in intensity to citronella. The pre-saturated wipes are very useful, although I found that I needed two wipes to fully cover the horse.
