It was cheap and mostly worked. I think most people buy this to use with old floppy disks in a shoebox like I did; my experience was as follows. Some drives showed files but the drive could not read them. Others gave an error in the middle of copying files (I forgot how slow the floppies were), and trying to copy the middle copy again never worked, but sometimes a reboot did. Some discs sounded different than others and if you hit the top of the unit the disc would spin and then work. The manual warns that a high-performance USB port is recommended. I had no problems with the USB3 or USB2 ports on my PC or laptop (the drive was stuck on the PC's USB 3 so I was sure the drive was getting full power). Some files reported being copied but corrupted. I'm pretty sure it's the limitations of floppy disks (especially floppy disks over 20 years old) and not this one, but I'm not sure. I could not find any data/file recovery software that works with this drive. I got some treasures from my discs. Much luck!
