Almost perfect for our family's needs. We have australorps that lay medium to large sized eggs and silkie chickens that lay small eggs (important when we talk about the only downside). Key features we like: - They're sturdy, both in the way they stand on the counter and in the way they're built. Quality - the egg holder rotates. This way you can rotate it to get "in" and "out" where you want. This feature allowed us to place it in a tighter spot (about 1 inch clearance above the device) and still pickle and remove eggs. It keeps a lot of eggs in a limited space. Cons: It's designed for larger eggs. This means that if our little eggs sink to the bottom, they can fall out. This can be remedied by widening the slider closer to the bottom stop. Our workaround is to always make sure we have the big egg at the bottom. If the next egg is a small silky one, we'll grab it and repeat until the next egg is another australorp egg. I'm not taking a star off because we knew it was for bigger eggs when we bought it. I thought others might be interested in this solution.
