A little disappointed with mobility and daily living aids

Very simple thing, I hope it helps my elderly mother to unplug the sockets. Unfortunately, the space for the plug cord is very tight and I can't use it without my adaption for the appliance it was bought for - my mother's GE toaster. This is normal for normal thin lines, but not for heavier lines. Too bad the gap for the cable isn't bigger.
