Review on KUNPENG Bed Pillows Sleeping CertiPUR US by Becky Burnett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Would buy again best in bed pillows

I had neck pain after a recent pregnancy. I sleep on my side and stomach so finding a pillow with the right support can be difficult. I chose this pillow because I read in the description that you can adjust the thickness to suit every type of sleeper. Overall I would give this pillow a 4/5 and I explain my reasoning below. Before going into my specific opinions I would like to note that I purchased a queen size pillow, I am 5ft 3 inches tall and of average build as body type probably plays some factor in choosing a pillow, and I did. Use the queen pillowcase over the cover the pillow has on arrival. First impression: panic and disappointment. When the pillow arrived it was in a small box and vacuum sealed. When you open the bag, the pillow is completely flat and soft, unlike the photos in the description. There were no notes/instructions in the packaging so I went back to the Revain product page where I was told that the pillow needs to be fluffed with fingers and left for 24-48 hours before use to allow the pillow to swell back up . . I fluffed it up with my fingers and let it sit for about 12 hours before returning to it, fluffing it up with my hand again, and flipping it over. In less than 48 hours I had a plump and full pillow. However, I did not expect to have to wait for the pillow to straighten up before using it and the pillow arrived 24 hours later than the estimated delivery date. Especially compared to other reviews, there was no mold or smell when the pillow arrived. Feeling: A pillow might look as good as a cloud, but it's pointless until you actually lay your head down to rest. Despite its plump and full appearance, the pillow still has some properties. It is flexible and bendable so you can adjust it to fit your head and needs (without removing the padding). It's soft enough that you don't feel like you're sleeping on a rock, but firm enough that you feel like your neck is being supported. My head didn't get warm/sweaty with this pillow, so I felt the pillow breathed as advertised. Sleep: I've been using this pillow for almost a week now and overall I felt more rested and had less neck pain from getting up several times during the night to check/feed my baby. When I sleep, I sleep deeper, longer, and toss and turn less to relieve neck pain. To be clear my neck pain is still there but switching to this pillow has helped. Perhaps it will continue to shrink with prolonged use like I will be holding this pillow. Ease of Use: This is probably my fault, but after reading the description of how to customize the pillow interior to suit your sleeping needs, I got the impression that it would be easy to remove the middle insert/inner layer, which you can if needed just take it out and put it back in. When I opened the inside of the pillow I found it was full of fluffy stuffing. In hindsight, I see that this is pictured in the product description, which is why I overlooked it when I bought it. However, removing the stuffing to adjust the pillow is not very easy/convenient as it is just a fluffy mush. I didn't remove the filler to customize the pillow because I don't feel like cleaning up the mess and there is no easy way to store the filler in case I want to put it back. The insert is disappointing, but the pillow is malleable enough that I can move the filler to adjust the height of the pillow wherever I choose to rest my head at night. Haven't tried washing the pillow yet, but again there were no care instructions in the packaging. Pictures: I have included some pictures in this review. The first two photos are a comparison between this pillow (left) and my cooling gel memory foam pillow (right) that I used prior to this purchase. How do they compare? I prefer the Kunpeng pillow. The blue cooling gel is actually a little too cold for me, and the memory foam in this pillow is hard, flat, and hard—unmanageable. It's too low for me when I sleep on my side and too high when I sleep on my stomach so I will always have neck stiffness/pain after sleeping on this pillow. Since the Kunpeng pad is softer and more flexible without sacrificing durability, I would definitely choose it over the standard/cooling memory foam pad again. For back sleepers, the firmness and height of the memory foam cooling pad might seem better, but the Kunpeng definitely better suited my combined needs. As you can see from the attached photos, Kunpeng has not lost any of its fullness or shape as promised in the product description over the last week of use. The next two pictures are the inside of the pillow. First, the outer cover opens to reveal a much less attractive inner pillow. If you open the inner lid you will find the filling. The filling on my pillow did not match the product description (note the bruising and old/discolored yellow foam). To date, I did not open the inside of the pillow prior to writing this review and the appearance of the filling does not change my opinion of the pillow's comfort and support. However, I would be curious to see if the insides will deteriorate over time given their appearance and how long it lasts. I've had a memory foam cooling pad for 5 years (long time to have an uncomfortable pillow, I know) so I'm wondering if this pillow can match that lifespan. The last picture is just a demonstration of the flexibility of the pillow. It easily molds into any shape I want without losing support, so it works really well for me as a side and stomach sleeper. That's it - my overall rating is I would buy this pillow again for the comfort, support and flexibility of this pillow. I found this pillow supportive enough to relieve neck pain. However, I wouldn't give this pillow 5 stars because I was disappointed with the ease (or rather difficulty) of adjusting the height of the pillow to suit different sleeping styles by removing the filling, and the filling isn't quite as advertised. Also, there are no care instructions included with the pillow, which is also awkward/annoying. While I was disappointed with the delay in using this pillow, I would not downplay my score for it given the delivery issues due to COVID and the impracticality of shipping a fully fluffed pillow.
