Update from 07/31/20: finally replaced the third by the fourth of the same one. Update 06/22/20: The impeller shaft of the third pump is now constantly vibrating in the bearing, although it is pumping normally. Update 10/19/19: I still use the third pump almost daily. I rebuilt my heat exchanger from 1/4" copper to 3/8" copper and the pump noise is completely gone now. The whole system is now 3/8 inch which is recommended. I suggest you follow this rule and also don't pulse through the impeller of a downstream pump. Restored 5 star rating. Update 08/19/18: The second pump failed after about 200 hours of operation as the plastic bearings wore out causing the impeller to vibrate loudly. I still have one of these and will let you know if it fails. Update 1-22-18: The second pump lasted 40 hours and circulated water up to 125f. It's gotten a little louder, but still works smoothly. If it fails I will replace it with a similarly priced American solar pump that uses ceramic bushings. Update 12/25/17: My installation may have caused this crash. The nylon bushings are worn in an elongated shape, which may have been caused by water being pumped through this pump when not driven by a downstream diaphragm pump from the same supplier, creating significant pressure pulses. I regained my 4 star rating until the third pump (identical replacement) I bought either didn't work or didn't work, having now raffled off the diaphragm pump separately. Update 12/22/17: The pump I used to circulate water through the heat exchanger wore out in less than 30 hours of use. This caused strong vibration inside the pump. The water temperature was between 50 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit with zero head. The plastic impeller rotates on a metal shaft without bushings, so they wear out quickly. I have replaced it with another one exactly the same and will update it in a month or so when it wears out too. i expect it It would probably be good if it was only used intermittently. First 5 star comments: I used this for a standalone shower. A 3 gallon shower bag was fitted above it with a quick release air hose clip so the bag could be removed and refilled. The pump must be submerged in water, allowing the water to flow through the pump and partially rise through the drain hose if you place it below bag level. This primes the pump. 10mm fittings fit 3/8" hoses. The adapter connections go down to the pump and then to the 1/4" hose to the shower head from the bag. Insert the Linemaster footswitch and voila, a nice 12v shower system Note: This design was converted from a shower bag into a 2017 one 3 gallon plastic radiator changed, the pump is submerged in the radiator and air hose couplings connect it through the cover to the heat exchanger and shower pump, this pump is now only used to circulate through the heat exchanger.
