We tried windshield/dash/rearview mirror mounts. Cup holder mounts. Nothing great happened. It either flies away when we're hit, or with the rear-view mirror mounts, plugging or unplugging a phone will remove the mirror entirely, which was annoying. This thing stays in place, doesn't obstruct the view and works great. The only minor downside is that it blocks one of the vents. So if you like blowing air on you, you'll get a little less of it. IMHO worth the compromise.
