Review on Thule 692 Mount Cargo Basket by Troy Drake

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great network! Worth the price? May be.

Why spend $50 on Thule brand nets when Revain has cheaper products? quality and ease of use. I've had this mesh for 2 months now and have already used it on several trips, both hiking and going to the airport. What I like best about this basket net is its compact size and footprint when not in use - it folds completely. small and comes with a reusable mesh drawstring pouch - and how well it stretches and holds up when deployed. I bought this with a Thule 859 Canyon roof rack which I also fitted with an optional Thule 8591 Canyon roof rack extension. At first I doubted the mesh would stretch over all of my cycling and hiking gear in the basket, but this mesh stretches many times over at rest and protects everything very well. The stretch mesh is made from thick cord and looks like it will last for years. The hooks on this net are sized to fit snugly into the Thule steel tubing that makes up the basket, which gives me more confidence when deployed. The small holes on the hooks (made of durable plastic) provide a convenient grip for removing the hooks. If there is one downside to this product, it's that it tends to stick to itself. The hooks perfectly adhere to the elastic cords and hook again. It's not the end of the world, but it does slow down network expansion a bit - just be aware that if you're on the side of an airport trying to fight this thing, you'll need an extra minute or two. All in all another very good, if not overly expensive, Thule product that could only be paired with another Thule product to ensure maximum compatibility.
