I have a large island in my kitchen with a fold down countertop on one side. The large stools provided are fine, but when the flap is down, which it is in most cases, the stools do not fit and have to be set aside. Problem. I didn't have room in the kitchen to put them aside. I was trying to find a smaller similar stool and came across these. As I said above, the falling leaf doesn't work 95% of the time since I live alone and don't eat out on the island often. But when guests come, of course I need seating. These stools fit perfectly! You can see from my photos that the stools fit nicely against the cabinet under the leaf when the leaf is folded down. However, they open immediately when they are needed. I chose black because it suits my interior. It could not be better. They can be a little tricky to open at first, but after opening and closing a few times they will loosen up. There is a security feature that requires you to pull a 'ring' to release the chair so it can be opened. This way the chair will NOT close by itself which is a very nice feature. The price was amazing. Not the most comfortable stools, but for infrequent use, they're perfect!
