We've been using this for a few months. It took several weeks for the turtle to get to the top. Once they start using it, they use it all the time. They really seem to enjoy sitting there. This turned their bellies brown. It floated well and was soft enough to get on and off, unlike the hard plastic imitations. The fake plastic seems to be too hard for our 7 month old red ear sliders. I had to throw them away because they were starting to look moldy. Mold is not only toxic to turtles, but also to the occupants of the house, mold spores will be in the air. Before that it was great. So if you take the smallest one and place it directly under a heat lamp, it might not go moldy. Make sure it does not come into contact with food or water. There doesn't seem to be any other water tank option that actually works, so I'll buy another, try again, and advise the kids not to take anything.
