Review on 🛥️ Enhance Your Boating Experience with Raymarine i50 Depth Display by John Miller

Not for shallow water

I use this sonar with the P79. It just won't work in water less than 8 feet deep (5 feet below the transducer). Raymarine blamed me, my setup, Airmarine and my choice of transducer. But the simple truth is I bought a basic Faria with a P79 for the negligible price of a Raymarine sonar alone and it has worked great to 1.6ft below the transducer. this is a work as a side note now for shallow water. Except in shallow water, the i50 does a good job and is very reliable. It's easy to read. The only other problem is the user interface. I am extremely user unfriendly. I needed a guide to figure out how to clear the anchor depth alarm. Another caveat. I got the i50 instead of the brand new i40 which didn't work at all with the P79, even listed as a compatible device everywhere (Defender, Arimarine). Raymarine told me the i40 is not designed for an inboard converter as it lacks the power(?). An interesting proposition considering that the microscopic Faria works well at 300W.
