Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as advertised Electronics

March 22 ordered an external DVD recorder I/O Magic. received on 2.4. Unpacked, connected to USB and socket. My computer recognized it immediately. Tested with all installed software ie. PowerDVD/Nero and Lightscribe. (The disc that came with the kit was not used). All recognized. Printed Lightscribe disc approximately 23 minutes. watched a pre-recorded DVD, listened to a CD. Pre-recorded CD and DVD. Based on the aforementioned performance, I am very satisfied with this torch. only one problem I have a notification since I turned it on; it makes a loud whirring sound as if it could be an engine. It's loud enough that I can hear it even when I'm not in the room with the device. From a distance it sounds like a fan, up close it's a hum. When the drive is running. With a disc inside of sound lessons. I emailed the seller and asked this question: is this specific to this drive? SALES RESPONSE: That doesn't sound normal. Unfortunately we cannot replace it as we no longer have this drive in stock. If you wish to return the disc, the process can be initiated through your Revain account. We apologize for the inconvenience. justin So I'm sending the unit back, rated it 3 stars because of the extra noise when the drive is on, but it works very well. Functionality and performance as specified on the Revain page for the external I/Omagic DVD +/- R/RW (24x) drive with LightScribe optical drives
