Recently this year I had a musty smell coming from my air conditioner and after a little research it turned out that there was probably algae or mold build up in the drain pan. After opening the system for examination. That was definitely the main reason. At this point I figured I might as well call a professional and ask them to come out and clean everything as I honestly had no idea what to do to fix the situation. A technician from a very reputable and well known company threw 2 of these into the coil and drain pan for every ton of air conditioning (in my case 7 tablets went into the system). It took them a few days to really get to the bottom of the problem and remove it from the system, but honestly it helped more than I thought. What better review than a pro advising you to buy this and throw them in instead of paying him $120! It's literally the same bottle he had in his truck. It's been about 6 months now and I add a few every 45 days when I change the oven filter and the musty smell is gone for good! The trick is to get at least 1 or 2 NEXT back onto the coil so that you break up the algae on both the back of the sump and the front (since condensate flows back to front in most setups). .
