I bought this as a heat source for my leopard gecko as I keep the AC temp pretty low. It does not require overhead heating as it relies on the warmth of a heating pad under the terrarium. What this means to me is that it gives me the chance to warm it up a bit if it's necessary for my peace of mind! I left it very low with the control knob and it does the trick! It can turn out and work well, but you have the ability to roll it up to perfection. I keep several thermometers in my pocket to ensure it stays convenient. This would be perfect for those looking for beards or pets that need warmth from above! I have it hanging on a stand about 6 inches above the screen. You can't go wrong with this!
