Review on Streamlined Digital Buzz and Beep Timer for Efficient Time Management by Mary Maybank

Pretty good timer: Timer

Pretty good timer. I use it to keep track of time while studying. Prevents my mind from wandering while studying. I use it often. I chose this model solely because of the vibration function! Affordable price compared to alternatives, but wish it was made in the USA (at this price point). I wish the size was a little smaller and the volume and vibration intensity were adjustable. But nothing serious enough to complain about - not yet. The display is quite large. [UPDATE: I recently (I think) discovered a tiny software bug where 3 times after stopping and starting the timer the device would automatically go into clock mode and lock in that mode. So I had to reset it to use timer mode again. It doesn't matter though, I wish it had an adjustable time function for convenience. I also wish it had an on/off switch so it doesn't stay on all the time and unnecessarily drain the batteries. [UPDATE (2012-08-05): Cons: Clip needs better teeth/grip to grab belt or clothes. When clipped to my belt, it inevitably falls off - always. Upon inspecting the clamp, I noticed that the prongs aren't that deep that they don't bite/clamp tightly. As a result, the device fell down several times. I also noticed that a tiny piece of the clip broke off as a result of a fall! I no longer clip it to my belt, I just put it in my pocket. Minor inconveniences.] Parts are a bit cheap (typical of Chinese manufacture). I'd still recommend it though, especially if you're on a tight shoelace budget. [UPDATE 9/17/2012: It's been running a bit slow lately, restarting, shutting down or going into clock mode on its own. I think this is the result of various falls he has suffered over the course of 14 months due to a slightly weak clamp/stand mechanism! The only option that works in this case is reset. A little uncomfortable and a little annoying. I think for the next one I might try to save up and buy a sturdier model, preferably one made right here in the US.]

Pros
  • Vibration and sound alerts can work together or just vibrate
Cons
  • Out of fashion
