Revised rating. I originally loved these stones. I chose them for my new aquarium. I chose these gravels because they are bigger, easy to clean and small fish won't try to eat them, but now I'm wondering if releasing my fish is even worth it. Yes, my fingers turned black after touching these stones. Yes, the stones are painted black. I don't know what is used as the paint and as far as I know it could be lead based paint. The use of the word "natural" is misleading. The stones are probably naturally polished, but they are NOT "naturally" black. Definitely paint it black.
