Terrible, but it can be fixed. (Manual)

The dumbest phone holder design ever. To do this, you have to press a lever to open the side handles. I would prefer the product to close on my device. But someone probably has a patent on it, so Styles had to do something else. SOLUTION Open: Using a small screwdriver, unscrew the four screws and open the panel. Remove the center gear and two levers. Remove and discard the lever and rod spring. Reverse Spring: Using pliers, VERY CAREFULLY bend the bottom spring hook up (just twist it up) and the top spring leg down. (I actually broke my spring pin the first time, but I was able to bend another one in it.) Manipulate the spring so the pin is back up and the hook is down (the spool should move in the opposite direction). Now). Replacing and tensioning the spring: put the spring back in the holder, hook it in and lift it up. Locate the rack hole in the gear and place it back onto the spring so that the spring rack fits into the hole. Depending on your device, you may need to tension the spring a bit before changing levers. I have a slim iPhone 5s. I added a 3/8 clockwise twist before placing my hands. Larger devices may not need to be cocked. To increase the tension, use a wrench (it was either a 5/16" or 3/8", I don't remember) to turn it clockwise. While holding it, carefully reinsert the levers into the channel, making sure the teeth line up with the gear. Reattach the cover: Place the cover back onto the bracket and tighten the four screws. For my purposes I use additional gripping things. Now all I have to do is gently slide the phone into the holder and it stays in place. I love Steelie products that hold my phone. I like it when I can control it freely. I attached a magnetic tablet mount to other phone holders and glued a steel ball to the dashboard. When I sold my car I sold my previous phone holder. The new owner loves it.
