I have used this screen for some of the single board computers I have. So far I've attempted this with an STMicro-based development kit running a set of demo programs on Embedded Linux. So far it has been proven to work on a plug-and-play basis. In fact, the ST kit already has a small 3.5-inch screen, but the 7-inch screen takes precedence when connected via HDMI and powered via USB. I had no issues with the touchscreen or brightness. I've played around with the up/down side lever to adjust the brightness and found that most of the range works. Stand. Also included are two cables and an adapter. The included HDMI cable goes from standard HDMI to mini HDMI. The adapter converts standard HDMI to micro HDMI. This allows the HDMI source to be standard or micro. The other cable is a dual USB-A to USB-C cable to power the display. Dual can be there to provide a safe margin for the performance needs of the display. It worked fine for me with a single USB-A connected to my dev kit. This display provided exactly what I was hoping for, a large workspace to experiment with creating touchscreen devices.
