We have decided to update our farmhouse with some new outdoor lighting. After reading many reviews about this lamp and other similar brands, we chose black. The first two were well packaged with no scratches and I installed them in no time. The hardest part was removing the old fixings (one had an old bird's nest that had to be removed) before they could be installed. We love how the light spreads down and onto the walls. It makes the home and porch look clean, elegant, and welcoming to guests. The assembly of the lower lampshade and the upper bracket is very simple. The instructions are general, but again the installation is standard and straightforward. I found it easiest to remove all the old mounting hardware and plug the included mounting bracket directly into the junction box and then connect hot, neutral, and ground. Put on rubber washers, tighten two nuts and you'll have a stunning brand new look wherever you place your Barn wall lights. We're also making the farm as automated as possible, so we're installing Wiz WiFi lights to be able to change colors, turn the lights on automatically in the evening, and then dim the lights before bed. Some of the other light fixtures we had didn't provide adequate weather protection for the WiFi lights and rain affected their performance. There's plenty of coverage with these sconce style lights to keep them dry and bright on stormy nights. We can't wait to install the other 15 lights that are on the way.
