Review on πŸ–₯️ Shop Vertiv Avocent SV340H: 4-Port Dual-Head HDMI 4K Ultra HD KVM Switch by Jonathan Olson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty cute with some features.

Overall this is a pretty good KVM. It's seriously heavy and has a very annoyingly bright blue LED strip on the front. Nothing is included in the kit except the power cord, so be sure to purchase multiple cords. Expensive. Luckily it doesn't use special cables like other KVMs I've had in the past. You will need a set of DisplayPort cables (more on that below), USB 2.0 A/B cables (for keyboard/mouse), USB 3.0 A/B cables (for front USB 3.0 hub), and two additional cables. 3.5mm audio cable sets (one for speakers and one for microphone). My monitor (Dell Ultra-Wide 3440 x 1440) runs this KVM at a 60Hz refresh rate. I found this KVM to be very picky about the DisplayPort cables I used. I needed a 10ft cable from the KVM back to the PC. I had to try 3 different cable types before I found one that worked. Cables sold by Rankie/Cable Matters/Gear IT (appears to be the same cable) and Revain Basics did not work at all (channel mismatch) or flickered intermittently. The same cables worked fine when connected directly to the monitor. I ended up using Accell cables that were about 10 feet long. Although these cables looked a bit inferior in quality (harder and thinner cables), they actually work and appear to be reliable. They look exactly like the cable that came with the monitor, although they're marked 'Accell', which is reassuring. If you are having trouble with the display flickering, try a different cable.
