This door has just earned three stars. First I had to cut the "spout" on a plastic slider that moves horizontally to open and close the gate (see spout in the middle of the photo). Pruning was very easy with scissors, but not everyone knows how to determine the cause of the problem and its solution. The door didn't open or close at all until I cut off the end of the nose about 1/8 inch. Also, the top hinge on the opposite side of the gate is a welded "bar" that is about 3 inches wide and about 3 inches long. It tends to flex a bit with use, requiring me to bend it back to an upright position. about once a month (I open and close the gate about 10 times a day). When it is displaced from the axis, the door does not open and close smoothly. The problem was also that this "pencil" hinge is varnished and has 2 holes it slides up and down, hasn't been beveled/buffed/smoothed resulting in "stickiness" until the paint is completely scraped off of it (actually I didn't want to wait for the paint to wear off so I decided to sand it down a bit). After these settings, the door worked perfectly. I hope the manufacturer listens to these quality control issues. Even though the gate is advertised as 6 feet wide, this measurement includes it toward the door that faces either side. These screws are each about 3 inches long. So the metal gate itself (without those studs) is only 66 inches wide. If you have a 6ft 1in wide opening do not purchase this gate unless you are willing to install a board/board on at least one side. Gate to reduce the width of the opening to 6 feet (72 inches).
