Review on Ideal 1.75mm IC3D Blue Printer Filament for High-Quality Printing by Vincent Pavelko

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Thread A+. First choice, even better than PLA

Surface quality : A++ . The best surface quality I have achieved with 3D printing was with this filament, even better than high quality PLA. It looks/feels smooth and silky. Remove support: A+. Ideal for organic shapes and complex structures. The stand comes off easily and leaves no residue. Once again better than PLA, PETG and PC. Overhangs: A, I use this thread when I need to negotiate very difficult overhangs. It performs like a champ, better than PLA and PETG but still not as good as polycarbonate overhangs. Layer Adhesion: A+, very good, the outer perimeter is silky smooth and the inner layers are strong. adhesion of the building board; B- It's difficult, but doable. Before each print, thoroughly clean the build plate and warm it up for at least 30 minutes. Set the nozzle height to <0.20mm and print slowly with margins. This works for me every time Finishing: A++, very easy to glue, very easy to paint, surface quality is so good that it doesn't even need sanding Odor: A. Invisible in a closed chamber. The IC3D ABS filament is my workhorse. I prefer it over PLA of any brand. and I recommend it for almost every application. What can be improved? roll size. It's a bit wider than most reels, which is annoying as it doesn't fit my Raise3D N2's standard spool holder.

Pros
  • Filament diameter 1.75mm +/-0.05, ovality (roundness) within 4% and weight 2.1lb +/- 0.1
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
