Review on Noctua NH-U9S: Exceptional Premium 🧱 CPU Cooler with NF-A9 92mm Fan (Brown) by John Arrow

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great product but doesn't fit many mini towers with 115X socket.

Everything is impressive. Beautifully designed, finished and packaged; but I can't install it in any of my Dell mini towers with socket 115X because the instructions are written to suggest the wrong backplate on the motherboard. The instructions show a smaller backplate whose only function is to install the CPU bracket. THIS backplate REALLY leaves the holes you want. But THIS IS NOT the back cover used on many Dell mini towers like 9020, 7020, 790 etc. The same applies to other tower models. These towers have a much larger X-shaped backplate that utilizes the holes needed to install this Noctua cooler. Noctua's instructions show the wrong backplate and it's recommended to leave it in place; But with the actual backplate used in many 115X pedestal towers you can't leave it in place as it uses the holes required for Noctua to be installed and you can't remove the backplate as then during assembly nothing to assemble. CPU mounting screws. You might be thinking, well, just return it and get a refund. But "only" doesn't exist. I'm disabled, don't have a car and don't live anywhere near the post office. Even if I had a car or risked using public transport, I would never have survived the long queues at the post office. I could hire a car service but that would take most of the product price. I could ask for a favor, but I try to save it for more serious matters. So I have to "eat" this because nobody at Noctua has checked the obvious and important detail - whether this or that computer has a working back panel. I wrote this in hopes of saving others a waste. time and/or money.
