TL;DR This is a great knife, but it takes some work to reach its potential. This is a great knife for the money. 1095 carbon steel is not premium steel, but it has a strong sharp edge and is easy enough to repair. I expected it to be rough, and it lived up to those expectations (it's a $15 knife and they spent $15 time on it). Note that the scales on the handle were larger than the shaft, which can cause hot spots. This is easily fixed with a belt sander or even very carefully cut off most of the excess material with a knife and sand the rest by hand. The spine will be mostly unfinished. Again, 2 minutes on a belt sander and a steady hand is the best solution. The blade profile wasn't very consistent all the way to the tip, but this can be corrected with a Work Sharp sharpener (which is expensive) or repeated sharpening sessions on a set of stones. All in all, this knife is worth the money. Money but don't expect a perfect product out of the box. This is an advantage, however, as you can customize it to fit your hand or needs without worrying about ruining an expensive knife.
