Quality control issue. The stamped piece of metal on the underside of one of the two valves was stamped rendering it inoperable (it didn't even fit in the faucet). Luckily this part of the original was not a point of failure so I was able to pull out the old stem and insert it into the new body and use the new gaskets to complete the repair. And yet I shouldn't have done it. They should have sent me a new part, but I didn't want to put the repair on hold. Update: Not only was one stamped, but the second was a cut gasket after only a few uses. I've had to change the seal twice since installing it. I don't know if the metal is too thin or if they just left it raw after stamping it so it has a sharp edge.
