receivers including Kaito KA11, Grundig G6 Aviator, Grundig YB-550PE, Grundig eTraveller VII, Kaito KA1101 , Kaito KA1102 and Eton E100, Redsun RP300 (Crane SWP), etc. I haven't fully completed all my reviews yet, but I certainly think the SONY ICF-SW35 is a great, very great receiver! I'm very impressed with how well it performs even on fairly weak signals with very good sensitivity and selectivity. ADVANTAGES: 1) Double conversion, PLL (Phase Locked Loop), All-Digital World Wide Band radio that comes with cloth case, carrying strap and readable manual. 2) Excellent weak signal reception on ALL bands (am/fm/sw). It really works very well! 3) It has a wonderful and useful audio (music/news) switch with headphone stereo as well as a smooth DX (RF Gain Attenuator) switch. This "Tone" switch works well on FM frequencies. 4) Key lock and backlight control (20-second duration with a yellow-green backlight that evenly illuminates the display). 5) Three tuning methods are available, including fine tune and Coarse tuning (in steps of 1 or 5 kHz) and with an auto-scan system with up/down search buttons but no keyboard for direct frequency entry etc. Reception TUNE icon which works very well etc. The time (is displayed ) and station frequency are not displayed simultaneously 7) Long battery life (up to 33 hours) using only 2 AA8 alkaline batteries ) Very simple key store preset and scan memory system for 50 stored preset memories (5 pages x 10 memories per side.) This memory system is very similar to what is currently available in the Sony Walkman pocket radios, ie Which are now available from Revain. Timer and dual alarm system. It also has a very good and quick method of switching between different SW meter ranges (unlike the system available on the SONY ICF-SW7600GR). CONS: They are all extremely small and don't bother me (and just added for completeness)! 1) Small speaker but the sound quality is very good for its size. The reception via the headphone jack is exceptionally good. 2) As mentioned before, there is no direct input keyboard, but the ability to quickly "jump" through the software and the automatic memory search function more than make up for this shortcoming in my opinion. 3) Batteries are not charged internally. 4) There is no external antenna connector, but the internal ferrite rod antenna and short telescopic whip antenna pick up weak stations very reliably. 5) FM stereo reception is always through headphones. There is no control switch to ever turn it off. With stronger FM stations this is normal, but with very weak FM stations this is of course a bit of a problem. radio, so buy while you can!).
