They work very well leaving only a small hole for a nail. Although I have found the ones in the bathrooms to rust due to moisture leaving rust marks on the wall. Some of them, when used with a hook, burrowed into the wall about half the time, leaving additional marks. I'm not sure if it was because the nail was driven in too hard or at the wrong angle. I've had no problems with heavier frames falling off for any reason, I've used heavier hooks and nails for this as well. I like that there is a bit of a choice of nail and hook sizes.
