this will not work on bits with very short shanks

There is nothing wrong with the template but it will not work on every bit made. My chisel was too short for the edge to make contact with the wheel when mounted on this mount. You'll need to contact Tormek and tell them your tool sizes to see if this works. This is also good for the intended use, but does not apply to all chisels.
