Review on Brother Smartphone Bluetooth Technology Compatible by Christopher Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The idea is great, the execution could have been better.

I bought this as a theoretical replacement for my aging PT-1500PC with p-touch USB connector. This 2002 product still works great but the only software that still works is a PC and most of my computers are OS X or Linux. I thought that being able to edit from a smartphone would be very handy. I was disappointed with the performance of this product: 1) It accepts a maximum of 1/2 ptouch tape. I liked the 3/4" option on the PT-15002) It doesn't stay paired with a smartphone. Every time you turn on the printer, you have to go through the connection process in the app. It takes about 30 seconds. It's not the end of the world but enough to 3) The application is very limited, although there are preinstalled templates that allow you to use two different text styles, if you create your own label from scratch you are limited to one text element. They can have multiple lines, but one font and size. You can insert 3 characters from a pre-installed library which mostly contains wings. Trying to type emojis in a text field gives unexpected results. I was hoping for the possibility To be able to customize the labels a bit more Maybe insert barcodes or QR codes Definitely need two lines of text with different settings, in addition to their default one provided templates Otherwise, the ability to create new templates, perhaps with a desktop application, would be nice. This is a fast and compact label printer and the advantage of a smartphone is that it can show a full preview of the label. It's just frustrating that features get blocked for random reasons.
