It's getting so hot! It doesn't emit any light at all. Be sure to use a special cap or wire holder to insert. It cannot penetrate a normal dome. I found that any hanging hoods wouldn't work with this, but I still wanted these to hang over my tank (as opposed to indoors or directly on the web). I ended up buying a wide hatch (for chicks) with a ceramic plate (the lamp gets very hot and needs ceramic). But the catch was that this type of hood only came with a clip that had to be attached to the side of the harness. I ended up making a copper hanger and found the perfect DIY solution (see photo).
