The bristles should be sparse, gentle!
Some reviewers complain that the bristles aren't dense or strong enough (my paraphrase) but they aren't! They should give small, light things like a few grains of dust or eraser crumbs a very subtle, light shine. You shouldn't disturb anything else. The brush works great and is an incredible value. I gifted it to my bibliophile husband who likes to repair and conserve where necessary. There are many durable brushes in the world, including a fresh clean brush. This brush was designed to solve specific tasks.
