I ordered this pump to replace a pump of the same model a few years old. This pump was purchased to replace the same pump that was originally in my house when I bought it. Works very well and is quiet. I tried a pump from a major hardware store and it lasted less than 6 months and the motor stalled. The only problem I have and others seem to have the same problem is the pump won't turn on anymore. Inside is a small switch that turns on when the water reaches a certain level. This switch no longer works. At first I had the same model at home. Again, the switch no longer worked. I took the little switch apart and saw that it was basically a spring that seemed to be losing its spring power. I have tried to get a replacement that is available but the cost is over half the cost of the entire pump. I think it should either be available at a reasonable price or it should be replaced with a switch that will last longer. The motor and pump in all of these units are powerful and still running so I'm sticking with them in hopes of finding a source for these switches at a reasonable price. I would still recommend this pump as it's a lot better than another brand I've bought that actually costs a little more.
