11 months update: my lock has stopped working. All the lights work, the code accepts, it clicks inside but the handle turns and won't open the door. Now I have to leave the emergency key in the lock all the time. I contacted the company through customer service. Leave a detailed message. They reacted very quickly, but to no avail. They said to go to their website and contact them outside of Amazon. I did just that. They don't have a contact page, so I found their email address and left a second detailed message, referencing my earlier (also) detailed message from Amazon. They emailed me again asking for more information and explained that without this information they would no longer respond to emails. This is information they seem to want but only asked for after contacting them several times. I could go ahead and do it, but I feel like I'm cursed now instead. I'm afraid I'll send this information and then they'll ask me to text someone else and jump through another hoop and the stress line in my forehead will burst. No, they won. You don't have to send me a replacement for the failed device. You won't get orders for locks for the rest of my house either. The competition is fierce, I will look for another lock company to do business with. One that not only responds quickly to problems, but also makes those answers meaningful instead of just tossing people from line to line. Time is money and spending an hour getting a $50 padlock refund is no longer worth it. Original Review: This does exactly what it says on the tin. I read the instructions, then I read them again, then I read them for the last time. Time. I then followed them step by step to make sure I didn't make a mistake. Reading a lot of reviews of similar castles, people had a really bad experience that I didn't want to repeat. In any case, I unscrewed and removed the already existing internal lock, installed this lock in its place (no additional modifications were required). I programmed it, tested the manual key, checked the code and it worked great. It took me longer to read the instructions 3 times than to install the lock. It's been installed for about a month now. I entered the code maybe 30 times and used the doorknob 100 times. It looks like a quality product and I hope it will last a while. And if not, it was only $55 and the spare key is hidden outside the locked area. Overall I'm very happy with the product and plan to buy a few more for my bedrooms before I head out. during my annual tourist trip (no need for a weekly cleaner or housekeeper to roam the bedrooms).
