There is no anti-burglary protection between the carrier frame and the bike frame, it's metal to metal. This rack will touch your frame in multiple places and will scratch your bike frame from all angles. I had a Giant carbon fiber frame that had just lost half its market price because those kids left so many scratches on it. In addition, the screws are very easy to lose after a period of use. I've already lost one of them from the seat frame. There is also virtually no "protective" connection between the bike rack and its base, completely non-functional and unsafe. Luckily, gravity helps keep him in the base. The only reason I'm still considering using this piece of junk is because my son loves it and his happiness is worth more. If you want to look at this crap for its low price and your kid's enjoyment of it, wrap your bike's frame in some kind of durable material or, like me, you'll end up losing a few hundred bucks in scratches.
