I used them to install cable railings in 4x4 wood posts on the porch railing. Racks are enclosed in PVC cases. I widened the holes in the PVC strut bushings to keep the tensioners from cutting into them, then drilled holes in the underlying 4x4 wheel to accommodate the tensioners. A special wrench sold separately (buy one - you'll need it!) for screwing in the tensioners directly. Stop for tensioner. I was very impressed with the quality of the spanners and the spanners came with a large supply of tips which is good because you can ruin some of them. this system in my previous cable railing project on my patio - would use them there too! If you want to create a really finished look, also buy a set of self-adhesive stainless steel hole caps. I did just that and it makes the finished product look very professional.
