I can't get these lights to illuminate spots but they come in handy as a black light. Requires two AAA batteries which are not included but are present. The lamp is small and easy to take with you. The beam is bright, especially when focusing on a small area. It's easy to make the beam smaller or larger depending on your needs. I started carrying one with me at night when I walk my dog because we have coyotes in the area. I hope that if I have to, I can scare them away by shining this light on them. While I don't find it very useful since it's on the market, it's handy for other things and it's handy to have nearby or keep in a desk drawer when not in use.
