What about hardware fabric? This is a good product at a reasonable price (especially considering the shipping). I'd say it's "medium weight" - thick enough for most jobs and thin enough not to get in the way while you work. I might not choose this for a dirt/rock screen, but it will work fine for a poultry fence or similar. This particular product is half inch squares, but other sizes are available. It's also a good medium size - openings large enough to make it less noticeable and easier to handle, but small enough to keep all but the smallest critters out. It's galvanized so it should be able to withstand years of outdoor use but can't tell yet. PS This is the first reel I've bought with a pair of gloves. The gloves are actually very good, but they are small and they are not made of a material that protects you from being stung by the wire ends. Good for unwinding wire, but if you're going to cut it you may need a stiffer one.
