I have had a bean cutter for many years; It was strong and heavy enough to stay in place when attached to a counter or tabletop. This one doesn't stay clamped, so you'll spend more time setting it up than actually handling the beans. The "legs" of the clamp are too short to provide a good grip on most table/counter edges. Choose an edge of the surface that you do not mind damaging as the clip surface may scratch or scuff. Attaching it to a portable cutting board and then pressing the board down with a peeled brick helped improve the functionality of this device. It handles a green bean or two at a time quite well, but beyond that it creates jams that take extra time to clear.
