First, it should be noted that the manufacturer includes a note that if you leave a 5 star review, you will get a $15 off the second unit. This probably explains the high ratings in the reviews. I've used this (luckily) on a laptop provided by my company - MBP 16". After a couple of weeks the USB port I was using stopped working - won't charge, there won't be a reader, etc. Considering that It was a used laptop, I'm not sure if it was existing damage or caused by the adapter, the remains in the machine were starting to come loose, apparently just due to the magnetic force of constantly adding and removing another part, to connect properly - and any movement of the laptop itself separately I doubt you would have this problem if you left your laptop on the table and almost never unplugged it, but it's like attaching and removing an external magnetic Bits several times a day wear out the USB port Used laptop, so a previous user may have caused previous damage, from which I do not know any personal equipment. Edited to add - the company contacted me and sent me two replacement adapters free of charge, so I'm giving them an extra charge. star for customer service.
